Reserve a group study room?

The library has 16 group study rooms available on the 2nd and 4th floors. Two of the group study rooms on the 2nd floor include TVs and DVD players (204 and 206). Any of these rooms may be reserved daily for a maximum of two hours by UE students. Reservations are made using Booked!. First time users will need to create an account.

Get help on a research assignment?

Fill out a Research Assistance form. The Research Assistance Program (RAP) will connect you with a librarian for personalized research help. Appointments are via Zoom or in-person and can last up to an hour. Plan to get research help in advance!

Have books pulled for me? Or put a book on hold?
You can place a HOLDS on available items in QUEST. This video demonstrates how to search Quest and place holds. Holds are available for pickup at the Information Desk after 3:00 p.m. the next day.
Cite a source?

Many databases help you create bibliographies by formatting sources in a chosen style. Look for icons like these to get started:

Also check out the APA, MLA and other styles webpage. Style guides are also on Reserve at the Information Desk.

If you have a tricky citation question, Ask a Librarian!

Borrow books or get articles UE doesn't own?

Fill out an interlibrary loan (ILL) form in QUILL, UEL's ILL portal. Watch a video or check out the Interlibrary Loan webpage for more details.

Renew my books?

Most books can and are automatically renewed unless needed by another borrower, OVERDUE or the maximum loan has been reached. (See Borrowing Privileges for max loans.) Renewals may be made:

  • In Quest - login and renew items from your account/library card
  • In person at the Information Desk
  • By phone: 812-488-2482

Interlibrary loans - staff automatically request renewals for all patrons' books/loans. UEL allows patrons to renew ILL books ONE TIME. You will get an email from ILL staff listing the new due date or a message noting that the lending library would not renew the item. Some libraries are not willing to grant renewals, so please plan to pick up and use ILL materials promptly. Please email loansrusATdos5.net with any questions.

Use course reserves?

Course reserves are books, DVDs, and/or CDs that your professor has put on reserve for your class to use. Reserves are located at the Information Desk and can check out for 2-hours, 24-hours, 3-days or 7-days.

Curious if a particular reserve item is available? Use the COURSE RESERVE search option in Quest.

Learn how many books I can borrow?

Students, faculty, staff and administrators can borrow as many books as they like. There are limits to other groups like alumni and public patrons. See the Borrowing Privileges page for more details.
