Gabe James came to UE from a large high school in Houston, Texas, with almost as many students as the entire University of Evansville.

As a member of the men’s swimming and diving team, he has learned a lot both in the classroom and in the pool. “I’ve loved my time as a student-athlete,” said Gabe. “But good time management skills have allowed me to be involved in a lot more than just swimming.”

Gabe was active in UE’s Black Student Union, the Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity, and even obtained his Texas Life Agent License to sell mutual funds all while balancing schoolwork and athletics. He was also involved in UE’s Institute for Banking and Finance where his small group of six students consulted with small, minority- or women-owned businesses to help them obtain a loan and build financial plans.
